Meet james Bolen
For WI State Senate 25th District
Born in Park Falls and raised in Winter, James has called the Northwoods home for most of his life. After graduating from high school James attended college in Grand Rapids Michigan before spending time in southern Missouri as a sports broadcaster. James returned to northern Wisconsin in 1991, married his wife Heather in 1994 and the two settled down in Cable. They have three children, all born in Spooner. Matthew is a junior at Northland College majoring in Biology and Natural Resources. Katelyn is a sophomore in high school and Jon is an 8th grader.
For twenty years, James and Heather have operated a small family resort on Lake Owen. They have grown their business through hard work, delivering exceptional service to their guests and building strong relationships here in the 25th Senate District. Earning the respect of his community, James served for 6 years on the Board of Directors for the Cable Area Chamber of Commerce. He eventually became the Chamber’s Executive Director, a post he has held for the past eleven years.
With a passion for serving others, James was honored with the Governors Service Excellence award for his role on the Organizing Committee for the International Paralympic Committee’s Nordic Skiing World Championships held in Cable in 2015. In the Town of Cable, James has served the local community as a volunteer firefighter, rescue SCUBA diver and as a member of the committee that wrote the town’s comprehensive land use plan. James still serves on the Town of Cable Planning Commission. James also volunteers his time for the Fat Tire Festival, as the chief of the start area for the Birkie and as the announcer for the Cable Lion’s 4th of July parade, the Gitcha Gami Games and the State high school Nordic championships.
James has served on the Bayfield County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors since 2011. In 2012 Governor Walker appointed James to serve on the Governors Council on Tourism, where he now serves as Council Secretary and Chairman of the Sports Marketing Committee.
Over the past twenty years, James has been a dedicated, civic-minded business owner who has worked each and every day to make his local community and the 25th Senate District a better place. Now, James wants to serve the people of the 25th Senate District as their new Senator. This is a pivotal time for Northwestern Wisconsin. For the past thirty years, this senate district has been represented by Democrats that have more in common with Madison liberals than their own neighbors. It’s time for a change, it’s time for a stronger North!
